The college has a long history. In 1953 the former Marx and Lenin Research section of Hunan Normal College was established. It merged into Hunan University of Finance and Economic in 1995.
College of Commerce consists of 4 departments, 7 institutes, 2 centers and 1 newsroom, namely: Departments of Economy, Management, Finance and International Trade; Centers of Consumption Economy Research, Educational Economy Research; Institute of Economy, Finance, Immoveable Property, Urban and Regional Economy, Property Right and Financial Management, Open Economy & WTO and Institute of Social Security Fund; Newsroom of Consumption Economy. The specialties opened at College of Commerce are Economy (including Consumption Economy), Finance, Management of Human Resources, Business Administration, Marketing and International Trade.
There are 75 staff and 56 faculty members serving at the College. 29 of them are professors and associate professors. With the strong setup, we concentrate on boosting the education of quality and creativity, and working hard to make our school the first class and influential in the province and the nation. The college has engaged a few dozens of well known foreign and domestic scholars. So far, the number of the undergraduates and graduate students in School of Commerce amounts to 2,800 people.
The college tries to promote diversity and international exposure. They have significant collaboration with the universities in USA. Their students are selected to universities in Taiwan, Italy, and Poland etc. Professors from Taiwan, America, Germany, Canada, England, and Japan have been invited to give lectures and some of them are their guest-professors now.
